Architecture tours: Monastery of Tibães is a mandatory stop
The Monastery of Tibães is one of the oldest buildings in the city of Braga. Its origin dates back to the end of the distant 10th Century and beginning of the 11th Century. Being an excellent example of Portuguese religious architecture, the Monastery of Tibães plays a fundamental role in the national culture, having functioned as a training center for architects, carvers, gilders, imaginaries and sculptors, many of them active players in the construction of buildings erected in the 17th century.
